Daniel Scher is a vice president, portfolio manager and research analyst with the Franklin Equity Group. Mr. Scher is the co-lead portfolio manager of the Franklin Real Estate Securities Fund, the FTIF Franklin Global Real Estate Fund (SICAV) and the FTVIP Franklin Global Real Estate Fund. He has been a portfolio manager on the real estate strategies since 2014. Mr. Scher has been a research analyst on the real estate strategies since 2007 and has specialized in research analysis of North American, European and Australian REITs. Prior to joining the real estate strategies, Mr. Scher worked in business development and distribution for Franklin Templeton's Australian business, starting in 2002.

Before joining Franklin Templeton, Mr. Scher worked for the asset management division of the ANZ Banking Group and as an economist for Ernst & Young in Australia.

Mr. Scher received a Bachelor of Commerce from Monash University in Australia, majoring in economics and finance, in addition to receiving an Honors Degree in economics.
