Bowei (Sam) Li, Ph.D.

Sam is a Portfolio Manager on the Australian Active Insights Strategy at ClearBridge Investments. He is also responsible for quantitative research.

He joined the firm in 2021 and the investment industry in 2018.

Sam began his tenure as a Quantitative Analyst at Martin Currie. During this time, he was named Portfolio Manager. Martin Currie became part of ClearBridge in 2025. Prior to this, he was a Quantitative Developer at Frontier and a Quantitative Analyst at National Bank of Australia.

Sam received a Ph.D. in finance from the University of Melbourne, a Master of Commerce in quantitative finance from the University of Sydney, and a B.S in mathematics and statistics from Northeast Normal University. He is a CFA® charterholder and a certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM).
